Success! A Summit Update
I've had so many update requests - its wonderful how many people are following Trevor's journey! The past couple of days have been so exciting! In case you missed it, Trevor's team successfully reached the summit of Mt. Everest at 3:45 AM on Saturday (Friday at 3:15 PM Lethbridge time). The team left Camp 3 at 10:00 PM on Friday - crisp & bitter cold, but a full moon and almost no wind - and reached the summit at 3:45 AM. Trevor was the first climber to summit from the North

Catch up with Trevor at Camp 1
The skies cleared above Everest on May11th, revealing a TON of new snow on the mountain. Trevor shared this picture on Facebook when he got back down to Base Camp... Just look at all the snow they'll have to plow through! As mentioned in the last post, the team returned to Base Camp to wait out this storm. They spent a few days there resting and eating - Trevor's job was to try and put some weight back on in anticipation of all the calories he'll burn during the push to the s

WHY they wait (and other shocking facts)
There's a storm brewing! And you don't mess around with a storm on Everest. This video is from a South Col expedition in 2003, but it certainly paints a vivid picture of what the team would be facing if they continued... On Sunday, Tashi and Mingma headed up the North Col to set up Camp 3 (7800 m 25,590 ft) and Camp 4 (8300 m 27,230 ft) for Trevor's expedition. This includes placing supplemental oxygen cannisters so there's plenty available for the ascent. With that task comp

Hunkering in from the storm
Back at Base Camp, Trevor & Tashi were joined by two climbers from Sweden. This will make for some nice company for both of them as they ascend. Maria, one of the Swedish mountaineers, is a guide herself. Always nice to have some extra experience on an expedition like this. Her climbing partner is somewhat less experienced and he's back at Base Camp; they expect to connect with him tomorrow. The team (Trevor, Tash left Advance Base Camp (ABC) for an acclimatization hike up to

Everest Advanced Base Camp (6400m)
On Friday, Trevor, Tashi & Mingma connected with another team for the trek from Base Camp to Intermediate Camp. They completed a Puja Ceremony before leaving. A Puja can be requested for a number of reasons. In their case, it was to remove obstacles to their safe and successful summit of Everest. Tashi and Trevor reached Advance Base Camp on Sunday (Saturday night for us), and they plan to stay there for 3 or 4 days to acclimatize. This video is from a different expedition, b
